Losing one or more teeth is stressful for everyone as It makes difficult to chew and uncomfortable to eat. People feel embarrassed to smile and the bad mood becomes permanent due to the lack of comfort. Unfortunately, the traditional tooth replacement procedures do not solve all the problems. In this case, tooth implantation is the best solution.

Dental implants | the perfectly good clinical technique

shutterstock 78629152 Tooth implantation today is a clinically proven, science based and 100% accepted procedure. We can say that implant has become a dominant part of dentistry. Thanks to the quality of implant materials and refined surgical technique, now implantation is a routine procedure in functional and aesthetic restoration of teeth. Missing teeth are replaced with artificial tooth roots called dental implants. The properties of the implants are perfectly identical to the original teeth, just as strong, well-used and aesthetic.

Dental implants | artificial tooth root made of a bio-material

implant3 An artificial tooth root made of a bio-material is placed in the socket of the lost teeth to carry a replacement. Of course, the implantation has to be preceded by thorough preparations and careful planning. The material of dental implant is generally pure, unalloyed titanium, which is completely non-allergenic.

Implantation | preliminary examination

műtételőtt The tooth implantation is preceded by preliminary detailed consultation and dental examination in all cases. First a panoramic x-ray is required then the doctor performs a full oral examination (which teeth must be substituted, if the jaw is suitable for receiving the implants). This is followed by checking the available bone density if that is sufficient for implants. If bone volume or density is inadequate, a bone graft procedure must be considered. Finally, the patient's general-health-status assessment is carried out.

konzultáció  If all the necessary examination has been done and the implantation has been found safe and feasible, the reconstruction can be carried out. It starts with defining the number and size of the implants. The next phase is the consultation with the patient about the temporary replacement during the healing period and the expected costs of tooth substitution then we make a schedule for the treatments.

Dental implants | procedure

műtét1

After the treatment plan and the date of the surgery have been accepted, the intervention can begin. The implantation is always carried out under sterile conditions with local anesthesia.

After the local anesthesia a small incision is made on the mucous membrane and the implant is embedded by means of a gradual surgical bone-drill.

műtételőtt3 The implant is screwed into the place prepared then the mucous membrane is closed over the implant. After the surgery a panoramic x-ray is made to make sure that the intervention was successful. The stitches will be removed one week after the implantation and the inserted implant is healing under the protection of mucosa.

Implant | loadability

During the healing period, lasts usually about 3 months, bone cells grow into the micro-pores created on the surface of the implant. This process is called osseointegration that makes the implants to be fixed in the jaw and become able to support a normal biting load.

műtét4 After the healing period the next step is the preparation of the tooth replacing. First the implant osseointegrated under the gum has to be explored with a small incision on the mucous membrane. It doesn't mean another operation. There is a healing screw inserted into the implant that the dentist has to set free to make place for the abutment. Abutment is a small post that is fitted into the implant in order to retain the replacement. In 8-10 days the gum heals around the abutment and form a collar through which the dentist can prepare the tooth replacement.

Following this, after taking the impression, the prosthesis is prepared in the dental laboratory. Finally, the dentist inserts the implant-prosthesis.

With the insertion of the prosthesis, the dentist has completed his work, but the long-term success of dental implantation is highly dependent on the observance of proper oral hygiene and regular dental control which is required annually following tooth implantation. During the annual control the dentist check up the tooth replacement, the status of the bone and the epithelial cuff around the implant. If it's necessary he makes some corrections.

Dental implants | Benefits

  • if there are only short gaps inline: adjacent healthy teeth do not need to be grinded down
  • in case of losing molar teeth, It is also possible to make fixed replacement that result in stability and better chewing ability in addition to perfect aesthetic appearance
  • it is also suitable in case of complete tooth loss as implants can be used a kind of pillar in many ways to support and retain the prosthesis

Dental implants | recommended for everyone?

  • if there is no exclusion criteria
  • if you want to save the adjacent, healthy teeth from grinding
  • if you'd like to have a fixed prosthesis instead of removable dentures

Dental implants | Terms

  • sufficient amount of bone
  • good general health
  • perfect oral hygiene

Dental implants | allergies, cancer lesions

implant9 As already explained in detail above, dental implants are made of pure titanium, which has a unique biological properties so the bone is fully able to integrate with it. Numerous scientific researches demonstrate that its titanium oxide surface does not generate any allergic reactions or cancer lesions. It does not dissolve in body fluids and thus does not react with the immune system. For this reason, as well as the perfect implantation technique and professional surface characteristics, there is life-long warranty on it.

Dental implants | immediately

We provide immediate tooth implantation in our clinic. It means that implantation is carried out right after the tooth extraction.

Immediate implants are required when the problematic tooth belongs to a conspicuous place in the "smile zone" and it cannot be saved. In this case the patients' first question is for how long it will remain without replacement. The replacement of missing teeth requires a very careful way of planning in this area. In every case, tooth extractions triggers bone decomposition and cause gum recession. All of these injurious effects can be avoid and reduced with immediate implantation.

Immediate implants | procedure

If implantation has carried out right after tooth extraction the round gum contour fully remain and bone resorption can be prevented because bone tissue regeneration begins immediately between the tooth socket and the implant. In order to preserve the gum contour, it is necessary to insert a so-called healing screw. If the integrated implant has adequate stability a temporary abutment and crown can be made.

After the complete osseointegration (It takes 3-4 months in case of immediate implantation) tooth implants are loadable and the final abutment and crown are prepared.

zircon

Nowadays not only completely metal-free crowns are made, but in order to achieve the perfect aesthetics result, the implant abutment can be made of metal-free zirconium-oxide as well.
